“Reunite with your favorite student from Celtic days?” Postecoglou aims for Furuhashi…I’m sending a scout to the team scout

English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur are targeting striker Kyogo Furuhashi, who was a favorite of manager Enze Postecoglou during his time at Celtic.

“Postecoglou has sent a scout to observe the talented players in the Scottish Premiership,” English outlet TeamTalk reported on June 6 (KST).레모나토토

One of the players the Tottenham scouts are watching is Celtic’s Furuhashi. Furuhashi, a frontline striker, is a relatively small player at 5-foot-10, but he is a prolific goalscorer. He arrived in Europe in July 2021 when he joined Celtic from Japanese J-League side Bissell Kobe. At Celtic, he was coached by Postecoglou.

Furuhashi played as an ace under Postecoglou. He scored 20 goals in 33 official games in the 2021/22 season, his first year in Europe. Last season, Furuhashi stepped up his game with 34 goals and five assists in 50 games. He finished the 2022/23 season as the top scorer in the Scottish Premiership. Thanks to Furuhashi, Celtic won the Domestic Treble.

When Postecoglou took over at Tottenham after the season, Furuhashi was linked with a move to Spurs. According to TeamTalk, Spurs were linked with Furuhashi, but the deal fell through. According to The Sun, Spurs sent a scout to watch Furuhashi in the summer, although the move did not go through.

Spurs are currently unbeaten in the league with eight wins and two draws in 10 games. They are the only team in the EPL that hasn’t lost a game this season. Spurs have Son Heung-min doing a great job in his role as a frontline striker, but they lack the backup resources to support him. The likes of Xherdan Shaqiri and Dejan Krzysztof Kuluczewski are still underwhelming.

Aside from Furuhashi, Tottenham are also eyeing Everton center back Slobodan Lubezic, according to TeamTalk. The 194-centimeter center back currently plays for the Scottish club. Tottenham are looking to strengthen their squad as they continue to compete for the title.
