‘Breaking the losing streak’ Lee Jong-woon: “Jung Dae-sun and Seo Dong-wook created a harmonious batting lineup with the seniors”
The Lotte Giants have swept their three-game series against ‘distribution rival’ SSG Landers.
Lotte improved to 59-66 (.472)카지노사이트 with a 5-2 win in game 14 of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League against SSG Landers at SSG Landers Field in Incheon on April 22.
On the mound, starting pitcher Park Se-woong was the standout performer. Park threw 86 pitches on the day, allowing three runs on six hits (two home runs) and two walks while striking out four to earn a quality start and his eighth win of the season. He was virtually flawless, with the exception of a home run in the bottom of the first inning and a solo shot in the top of the fourth.
Notably, Park Se-woong, who was selected to the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games baseball team, will be out of action after the SSG game on the 22nd. The win was even more significant for both the team and the player, as it came at a time when it mattered more than ever.
The bullpen pitchers behind Park also did their part. Shim Jae-min (⅔ innings, 1 hit, 1 walk, 1 strikeout) and Choi Jun-yong (1⅓ innings, 1 hit, 2 walks, no runs) kept SSG at bay, and closer Kim Won-joong (1 inning, 1 hit, 1 walk, 2 strikeouts) closed out the game in the bottom of the ninth.
Yoon Dong-hee, who was named to the national team with just over two hours to go before the start of the game, went 3-for-5 with a home run, an RBI and a run scored, while Jeon Jun-woo played his veteran role by going 2-for-3 with a home run and a walk. Yoo Kang-nam went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, while “rookie” Jung Dae-sun also contributed to the win with a 2-for-4 performance with a home run, one RBI and one run scored.
After the game, Lotte acting head coach Lee Jong-woon said, “Park Se-woong pitched well for the last time before heading to the Asian Games. He followed the lead of catcher Yoo Kang-nam well,” said Lee. “I was also encouraged that the two rookies, Jung Dae-sun and Seo Dong-wook, hit well and created a harmonious batting lineup with the seniors. I’m happy for them because they have been living together in the second team for the first half. We will do our best in tomorrow’s (23rd) game.”
Lotte will start Charlie Barnes on the 23rd to try and secure the winning series.
