Baseball nears 6 million attendance mark…up 35% year-over-year

The 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League is on the verge of reaching 6 million fans.

토토사이트The KBO League announced on the 31st that it is 29,917 away from reaching 6 million spectators with a cumulative attendance of 5.983 million in 545 games over the past 30 days.

The KBO, which surpassed the 5 million mark on April 4, is on track to reach the 6 million mark if the 31st game is held normally.

The overall average attendance through the past 30 days was 19,954, up 34.6 percent from the same number of games a year earlier and up 4.9 percent from 2019, the year before the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

August was a challenging month for in-person viewing at ballparks due to heat waves and frequent rain. As a result, the average attendance of 11,062 fans on the last four days of the 5 million mark was down from the average attendance of 10,062, but the fierce mid-table battles between the teams brought many fans to the ballpark.

Last season’s final attendance of 6.076 million is also expected to be surpassed this week. The all-time attendance record is 8.468 million in 2017.

By team, the LG Twins, who currently sit at the top of the leaderboard, are the only one of the 10 teams to average more than 15,000 fans per game with an average attendance of 16,198. After LG, the SSG Landers are second with 14,376, followed by the Lotte Giants, Doosan Bears, and Samsung Lions.
