KT, which was in fourth place after falling behind NC in the win column the day before, regained third place in a day with the win.

The game came down to KT’s final at-bat in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Trailing 2-3, KT started the drama when leadoff hitter Lee Ho-yeon singled to right off the opposing reliever Lee Yong-chan.

A sacrifice bunt by Park Kyung-soo and a walk by Kim Sang-soo followed to put runners on second and third.

With only one out, KT tied the game with a clean single to left by Choi Jae-dae.

Kim Min-hyuk then walked to put runners in scoring position before Moon Sang-cheol lined a five-pitch forkball from Lee Yong-chan to left field for the final out of the game.

Lee, nicknamed “The Finisher” for his eight career shutouts until last year, lived up to his name as he followed up his tiebreaking single with the game-winning run.

KT had a tough game on the day. Ace Ko Young-pyo, who started the game, was hit hard.

He gave up two runs on three hits in the first inning.

He continued to give up hits in the second inning, but showed excellent crisis management skills in each of the big innings.

He got Do Tae-hoon and Yoon Hyung-joon out of a bases-loaded jam in the top of the third inning with a single and an infield grounder.

In the fifth, he gave up three consecutive singles to Park Gun-woo, Jason Martin and Kwon Hee-dong to fall behind 0-3, but continued to work out of a bases-loaded jam by getting pinch-hitter Son Asub to fly out to second and Kim Joo-won to ground out to first.

In the seventh, he gave up back-to-back singles to Kwon Hee-dong and Do Tae-hoon to put runners on first and second, then got Kim Han-byul to ground out to first base and caught Kwon Hee-dong trying to rush home.

After being held in check by opposing starter Song Myung-ki, KT’s bats began to rally in the bottom of the seventh inning, trailing 0-3.

After singles by Jang Sung-woo and Lee Ho-yeon and a walk to Kim Sang-soo loaded the bases, Choi Jae-dae hit a two-run double to left field.

KT then had another chance to load the bases with Kim Min-hyuk’s infield single, but could not score any more runs.

However, KT did not give up and turned the game around in their final at-bat in the bottom of the ninth.

Choi Jae-dae was named Player of the Game after going 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and one run scored.

Ko continued his streak of 11 consecutive quality starts (six or more innings and three or fewer earned runs) by allowing three runs on a career-high 13 hits in seven innings.
